So what has taken over my Ipod dock this afternoon?
Tip Toe Through The Tulips – Tiny Tim – I just love his ukelele and his offness. i’ve really got to get some more from this guy. Also, him, me, Shakira: all Lebanese, but only one of us is gorgeous.
Spanish Harlem Incident – James Mercer and Robert Mercer – What I love about this cover is it respects the song so much it doesn’t fuck with it. It let’s the thing breath and draws you in and though I miss the desire in Dylan’s original vocal, the guys really float the melody line all the way to the end.
Theme From “Cheers” – Titus Andronicus – I’ve been trying to get a sitdown with Patrick for this blog and I don’t think it’s gonna happen BUT if he is writing songs this great I’ll survive with just being a fan from a distant. This song makes me happier then anything else in the world today: it seems to stumble, drunkenly, both Patrick and whoever else is doing the second verse, but it is a musical illusion: it is not quite acting drunk but more like the memory of drunkenness. My love for this song is just about boundless. I love it the way I love “Titus Andronicus” and I know I’m gonna be sing it late on many an evening and stress that “…the way home is gonna be a real Shit Show” because sober I love the SS and walking down Steinway streets at four in the morning I’m gonna be wailing the little sucker.
