1. Pinky Blue – Altered Images – I was talking to John Mcelhone , who co-wrote this bands songs back in the 80s (I’ll you why in another post) and he claimed that far from being feigned, he was only 17 years old at the time and the sparkling innocence was far from feighned. “Where are you? Where are you?” is almost aching in its purity as the love Miss Grogan invites us to tea time. A great song.
2. Coma Summer – Weekend
3. Indiamapolis – Gasoline Silver -The harmonica solo kills
4. Love At The Pier – Blondie – Honey, keep the beer
5.Sexual – Amber – Reminds me of a the girl who gave me the song, and broke my heart in 17 places, before another girl mended it lately. This is the extended seven minute remix and it sounds completely old fashioned and disembodied. It is about being sexual but it isn’t liquid.
6. Nighttime – Afrobeta – Highlight of the set, a touch more subdued on the 2009 EP. They should remix.
7. Just A Dream – Nelly – Nelly’s romantic paean to the possibility of marriage. Excellent, deserves its success. An r&b dance number with a rock solid hook.
8. Back To The 909 – Mick Rhodes – A bracing slab of keyboard based lost love.
9. Breaking Point =- Keri Hilson
10. Nightcall – Kavinsky
