1. Shine Like The Sun – Dolly Parton – I am a Parton fan but I am not that big a Parton fan and I haven't much cared for her recordings this century and actively disliked "Jesus And Gravity". So it is with no little pleasure that I can inform you that her new album Better Day is excellent and this country pop confection a beautiful melody and perfectly constructed song.
2. Space In Your Face – The Mekons – I was never a huge Mekons fan and have essentially given up after a coupla decades of trying. This is classy hard rock off their upcoming release.
3. Who Says – Selena Gomez And The Scene – The lyric is the usual, specious self-affirmation claptrap, but it sure is a catchy song especially the nanananaaaas.
4. Here For A Good Time – George Strait – A strange year, 2011. Indie and Alt has been a big disappointment but the mainstream? Killer country from Smilin' George Strait.
5. Live This Life – Big Sean – My admiration for The Dream is returning after some crappy solo stuff. This is his first new material since "1+1" and it is a really poppy hip hop song. Incidentally, I still haven't decided how I feel about the Big Sean album as a whole.
6. Love On Top – Beyonce – bewitching call to "bring the beat in" than all hands on deck dance song. Like I said, a good year for mainstream pop.
8. It's So easy (Faithful version) – Paul McCartney – Actually, maybe the vocals a little less. Maybe a quite a bit less.
9. Jamie (DGC Rarities Version – Weezer – of the three versions out there, give this one a miss.
10. Last Friday Night – Katy Perry
