1. Critical Drain – SSLYBY – Second absolutely undeniable, perfect pop moment, and thank fuck for that because they don’t take to music journalism very happily here: “Consider this my audition, for that little jazz combo in the sky. If I’m not there yet, I’ll tell you why: I’m too busy defiling the American songbook’s name. And we’re just circlin’ ’round the critical drain” I kinda agree with them there but less so when it comes to the complaints about the interview process: ” Nothin’ ever changes; is that really your name? What’s it mean, what’s the context, could you explain?” The interview process is shallow and stupid, it is 30 minutes of slobberring and unless you are willing to throw a grenade into the works, it is just waste of fucking time. Hardly my fault, and they aren’t opening. I digress? Killer song especially the wooh woohs two thirds of the way through.
2. I Need You Tonight – Professor Green – The purest of hip hop English style.
3. That’s How Strong My Love Is – Bottle Up And Go – Yesterday was the Glassland’s NAG benefit. Wonder how it went.
4. See Me Now – Kanye West – This song is the one… an autobiography and a funny one.
5. Mine – Taylor Swift – How good is this: it gains depth through repetition -just the way great pop is meant to.
6. Club Can’t Handle Me – Flo Rida – You’ve heard let it sway? This is let it flow.
7. X – Offender – Blondie – Because Debbie Harry was an ice cold bleached blonde, this first album siren call is a white hot blonde heart of gold.
8. Down By The Water – The Drum – If I grow to love this band I will not be amused.
9. The Boys Of Fall – Kenny Chesney – I missed the revved up guitars at the end.
10. California Gurls – Kidz Bop Kids
