1. Hot Fun In The Summertime – Sly And The Family Stone Featuring Bootsy Collins – Sure it's a great song, always a pleasure. But between the original, the Chaka Khan and this one, this one doesn't really add much. Having said that, if it brings the song to a new audience, who am I to kick? Out August 16th.
2. Shine Eye Gal – Black Uhuru – Keith Richards called this the best song on the bests session he ever played. Sly and Robbie in control here very dub heavy, hazy slow, sexy reggae, and I can heard what he enjoyed about it. But c'mon, Keith's best session??
3. .Captain Of The Mount – Fall On Your Sword – "Captain Kirk is climbing a mountain, why is he climbing a mountain? To hug that mountain…" These guys have got mountains of good will with me after "Another Earth". This predates the soundtrack and it is weird and lovely electronic song about sexual attractions. I have heard of Dendrophilia (attraction to trees) and at least there is a phallic internal logic to it. But Mountains??
4. Wigwam – Beady Eyes – The penultimate song of the set on Thursday was where they really let loose. Less interesting on record, this extended 60ish psychedelia could do with a live version release.
5. Sorry For Party Rocking – LMFAO – Off the newbie, there is a real good remix doing the rounds, this is a little laid back for these guys. They sound like 80s Van Halen plus drum machine. Hey, maybe it aint that bad.
6. Suicide – Paul McCartney – If the rap is, it is a distracted dawdle not a song, so was most of the album it was made for.
7. Like They Always Do – Total Babes – This is a great song, The lead vocalist is real good and the sound is a youthful clutter.
8. Remember My Name – Fucked Up – I am still all over the place on the album, though not the song.
9. The Moon And The Sky (Remix Featuring Jay-Z) – Sade – Pretty little thing, ain't it? Jay – Z shows some, no it can't be, restraint.
10. Bang Bang Bang – Selena Gomez And The Scene – I love her voice as well. I can't wait for the new album.
