My Fave Tracks, March 5th, 2011

1. Get It Line – Ron Sexsmith – I’ve always been a non-believer in this singer songwriter. The one time I saw him live he was a nonstarter, and nothing I heard, and I’d heard quite a bit, overly impressed me. BUT. This terrific pop rock song is worthy of Marshall Crenshaw. I immediately bought the album.

2. Rocket 88 – Jackie Brenton and his Delta Cats – This is a comment Robert Nevin left on my Ike post from yesterday: ”

My wife (and her then husband, my brother David – don’t ask) were next door neighbors to Ike and were good friends with him for four years in California. He was fully aware that “Rocket 88″ was THE foundational rock’n’roll song. And he really wasn’t such a bad guy.”

3. Peg O’My Heart – Dropkick M<urphy’s – Yeah that’s Springsteen on the second verse!

4. C’mon (Catch ‘Em By Mistake) –  Tiesto And Diplo – Heavy duty dance masters joined by Busta Rhymes here.

5. Little By Little – Radohead

6. Far Away – Marsha Ambrosius – Heavy duty soul work out. Might take over my world within a coupla days!

7. 100 Other Lovers – Devotchka – A touch introverted, a touch over arranged, but it wins on points.

8. Believe It When I See It – Ron Sexsmith – Second killer, I mean killer, track.

9. The Afterlife – Paul Simon – Paul himself says he thinks he hawks back to his first solo album.

10. Four Letter Word – Beady Eye – First single failed to chart. He shoulda lead with this.
