I get sorta pissed off at ‘new’ bands that I write about that end up just totally disappointing me. As an up and coming band you want as much attention as possible, right?
Bands like Solfege Radio really let me down.
There is one thing to get excited about something there is clearly another to realize that maturity to be a ‘real’ band just isn’t there.
Its funny, I vowed to never type their names again but it fits in this scenario.
Anyway out of New Jersey has come some fantastic stuff. Joe Steinhardt and his bands of glory of course and the whole New Brunswick scene.. and
These kids.
Who the hell are My Eyes Fall Victim and who the hell came up with the cumbersome name?
“hey man wanna go see myeyeesfallvictim, tonight? Dude MEFV is playin…”
none of it works.
BUT…
I really, really like them.
Myspace categorized as ‘hardcore pop screamo’, I guess I can sorta see that. But the clean vocals are so pop its hilarious and in contrast to the brilliant scream. Jesus its like really bad ass salt and pepper shakers. One thing that concerns me, holy shit their songs are long.
Nearing 5 min in length “Smooth Seas Make For Poor Sailors” is more of a rock opera in this genre of 3 minutes flat.
I do have to say that their rendition of the theme song to “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” sorta won me over. Retro kids!

I want to hear more.. and I try.
Problem is Myspace has become the public urinal of the Internet and my anti virus software keeps shutting it down.
I’m going to give these kids an A- grade for what I was able to hear. I will make contact with them to try and get more to give you a proper overview on them. So far I have to say I am really impressed, but Ive been fooled before so… enjoy them while you can.
