The Neil Young And Crazy Horse show I saw last year is still fresh in my mind, because, among other things, 27 minute jams, guys, that’s pretty awesome right? Nearly a year ago I watched Young and the band bring down MSG with such ferocity I my ears are still ringing in what was the single best time I’ve ever seen him live. Well, first or second time anyway!
The best time I saw Neil was at the same venue in 2000 when he schooled CSN on what being Y meant, and all of us as well. I believe that was Young keeping a promise to rejoin the group if David Crosby managed to get himself straight. That was an incredible evening and between the two it pushed Y miles back up in my esteem, even after more than a decade of one crap album after another.
So anyway, as you may be aware, Neil Young is doing a four night stand at Carnegie Hall (aka carnage Hall per Helen Bach) , January 6, 7, 9, 10 2014 and I am going on the sixth. There was a presale which presold instantaneously and I thought, OK Iman, this ain’t happening. But then I got a Live nation presale code and snagged one for Monday. Undoubtedly this is gonna be sold out from one end of Carnegie Hall to the other (How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Scalp).
I wish Young was playing with Crazy Horse and not, as appears to be the case, solo. While an acoustic set might work like a ringing bell in this acoustic cathedrl, he has been so great electric I wanna hear that.
But I’ll take what I am givem. Good luck getting a ticket!
