Far be for me to start a ruckus but of all bands I've ever loved that every cool person in the world has hated, none have been more roundly condemned than Maroon 5. And really, that name is completely terrible. It is all sound and fury signifying nothing.Kinda like thin lipped Adam and crew BUT, they really are a pretty good band. It is hardly Maroon 5's fault that the plan worked. that they are rich and famous (and married, right?) and will absolutely sell out their February gig at MSG. I mean they are huge.
It took me awhile to turn up the heat on the pop-rock band, actually it took the terrific "Wake Up Call" to convince me to catch em at MSG on what would prove to be the last night of their 2008 tour and a completely brilliant exercise in audience domination. What came across, whether real or feigned, was Adam Levine's enormous good humor. he might well be a coked her rock and roll pig, but he acted like the MC of your dreams. Just a sweetheart of a guy, shouting about his Mommy, thanking his audience and sustaining a hit after hit set.
Maroon 5 played Jones Beach last year, and had trouble moving tix (lotsa twofers if memory serves) and that included Train as the opening act. Post "Moves Like Jagger" as well, so I was kinda shocked. But M5 haven't left the US charts for long in 2012, so I am expecting a big time sell out when they go on sale for M5's Saturday, February 16th, 2013 gig on Friday at noon. Neon trees who i like a lot
Must see? Definitely up there
