If all you know about Hilly Eye is the "Jacob's Ladder" Song from 2012, you're behind the times. Amy Klein left Titus Andronicus to work on this awesome ambient noise duo, featuring Amy on guitar and Catherine Tung on drums.Their 2011 EP Fireworks was one of the best releases of 2011 and they were so great on October 8th, 2011 at Bowery Ballroom.
At the time Amy said about the band: "Sleater Kinney meets Lightning Bolt meets a watery bridge at the end of town", which is pretty cool, right? The Ep is an epic New Jersey tall tail of sound and experiment and corrupts your ears with pleasure, back in the day I said they sounded like the Roches being covered Bikini Kill. Unmissable, right? I mean, they are a really good band.
Anyway, they are signed to Don Giovanni Records and their first album, Reasons To Live, was released yesterday, I will be seeing them as part of the early anticipated annual Don Giovanni Fest February 8th and 9th, 2013 (twenty bucks for two nights, unreal) but Hilly Eye are playing an album release gig at Glasslands on January 26th, 2013. Glasslands? By all means go… and get ready to have your ears bleed melody! By the way, did U2 steal their album title off Hilly Eye?
Here is what their press release said:
"we are pleased to invite you to our record release show, celebrating the completion of our debut album REASONS TO LIVE.
