2011.

I’ve been waiting to see Drake live on stage since 2011.

A huge fan of Take Care, his two forays into the region found him at Jones Beach and NJPAC, both of which are a major pain in the neck to get to and both far enough from Ground Zero over here I just guessed he’d be plying here. Well guess what. In the same amount of time that had me watching Hova four times, I saw Drake nonce. Indeed, the only times I’ve seen Drake has been when he has joined Hov on stage for a couple of tracks.

Like all those damn Cash Money kids, they be hating on nyc.

Drake and Kid Cudi –they both came out around time and now that dark hip hop downer bop the two of them invented is everywhere. This actually all started with Kanye West’s 808s And Heartbreaks, an album so influential that Kanye has it in his rear view mirror where most of the rest of hip hop is still chasing the bummer hip hop blues and none better than Drake.

Thank Me Later was reeeeeal good to  mood hop with  but Take Care was on a whole other level if only for “Over My Dead Body” and I was thrilled at the thought of seeing what I hadn’t seen, a big time Drake concert. Remember that free one he gave that got shut down for overcrowding, those were the days right.

Do you think maybe Drake has peaked? I feel like all those cash Money guys are on the down side and Drake? When I was a kid I really wanted to see Disney’s “Sleeping Beauty” and I begged and begged my Mom but she wouldn’t take me. Anyway, maybe 7 years later and it is playing in revival, I must have been 12 by then, so I take myself to see it and it was fun and everything but I was too old for it. My Disney doing “Sleeping Beauty” days were long over and those three Fairy Godmother’s who seemed so magical all those years ago were just fat old biddies with a wand. The moral? See something when it is the right time for you to see them. And my gut tells me last year was the time to see Drake.

Anyway, Drake has a new album Nothing  Was The same dropping soon and   is in town October 27th at Prudential and October 28th and I definitely plan to catch one of em at any price. Tix go on sale Friday at 10am.
