I keep on writing that I have seen every major currently working band at least once and I keep on discovering that I, in fact, have done no such thing. The latest band to be drawn to my attention is Das Racist, "Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell", novelty purveryors who got serious with a mix-tape and followed it with one of the best hip hop albums of 2011, Relax.Heems, Cool A.D. and Dapwell are not justa good PC joke (they are two thirds Indian) but also a good everything else joke, who seem like nonsense lyricist… or did at first. really, what does "Michael jackson, a million dollars" actually mean, right?
Anyway, I've thought of catching Das Racist a couple of times but the timing wasn't right and when I heard they were playing Irving Plaza on September 29th, the timing wasn't right either. I was seeing Corin tucker at Mercury Lounge that night. But, catch this, Corin is a 730p early showm and with two opening acts, Das Racist will probably hit the stage at tenish… ergo I can do both!
