So why go to see Aerosmith?
Here's a good reason… because Cheap Trick are opening for them!! That's a goodie, right?
I've never seen Cheap Trick live and I used to claim I had because I went to see NRBQ once and, in a compliment to both bands, I mixed them up.
Cheap Trick is the great big rock and roll band of all time. I mean, in the Aerosmith or Styx, or Bob Seger -you know, really big bands with really big sounds, Cheap Trick leaves them all for dead. The reason? They write better songs, it is that simple. People of good faith may differ, but who has used the henre to better effect than Cheap Trick on, say, "Surrender".
As for Aerosmith… I walked out of MSG after three songs a coupla decades ago, but I've mellowed in my old age so who knows, right? Of all the bands I truly despise, I truly despise them least
