The last time I saw Black Veil Brides live was April 15th, 2011 at Gramercy Theater, I liked em fine as well, a crunchy prog metal band with cuteness and make-up and Goth appeal. our Mary Magpie and Helen Bach had interviewed em earlier in the year and if ever a band seemed ready to move in the Hot 200, this was that.
But their Sophomore effort Set The World On Fire failed to live up to its moniker and, as I wrote at the time, they weren't tuneful enough. He who lives by the riff hook, dies by the riff hook. and anyway, it sold but it didn't break em bigger than big.
On January 8th, 2013, Black Veil Bride's third album, Wretched And Divine drops, and the release party is at Best Buy on Friday January 15th, a huge upgrade from Best Buy. Black Veil Bride must be ready for this big time and it could be, finally, their time to conquer the world of metal and beyond. Look at the pix above, they are cute enough to attract tweens with a death wish and smart enough to never overdo the KISS like merch boys scene.
With a whole lot at stake, I expect BVB to bring the house down. Improved for the better indeed.
