I've seen two Simon Pegg-Nick Frost movies, "Shaun Of The Dead" and "Hot Fuzz" -one a zombie parody, the other an action flick parody, so I am not certain why the third -an E.T. paroday "Paul" isn't quite right.
Here is one reason, there are no set piece parodies and even Spielberg in a cameo can't help that!
"Paul" is an alien slacker and Simon and Frost are taking him to the mothership. Played for jokes and a bit more, it isn't a drag but it isn't Hot Fuzz. It doesn't really pay off as well as Pegg can.
But…
Musically there are two stand outs.
1. The two at a comics book convention set to the Only One's "Another Girl, Another Planet".
2. The two with "Paul" dancing to Marvin Gaye's "Got To Give It Up". I have an 11 minute live version of this that could raise the dead!
And a good joke. The three are smoking Goverment strength weed.
Paul: "This stuff killed Dylan".
Simon: "Bob Dylan isn't dead"
Paul: "Isn't he?"
