I don’t know how I could love Falu more. The incomparable Hindi American singer songwriter’s self-titled album is one of my favorite albums of all time. Released in 2007 it is a flawless gem, a perfect mix of traditional an Western influences. I am not exaggerating, i promise you. “Hey Baby” and “Without You” is as good as modern pop gets, better.
I am going to catch her at Carnegie Hall November 14th. A Sunday 1pm concert so I love Falu enough to dump the Giants for her.
Now comes word that Falu returns to Joe’s Pub Friday, January 8th, 2010 at 930pm. This is the perfect antidote to post-new yars partum depression and an absolute must see.
Also, I have never heard of the opening band Red Baraat but this is what the Joe’s Pub website had to say: “Led by drummer Sunny Jain, Red Baraat is the first and only dhol ‘n’ brass band of its kind in the States, melding the infectious North Indian rhythm Bhangra with brass funk and expressing the human spirit through improvisation and a powerful live sound”. Intriguing, no?
