Moby On Drugs "Most Of Adult Life" Making Him A World Class Hypocrite

With the exception of "Everything's Alright", I've never had much time for Moby and his ulta vegan "the only herb I take is tea" had me shrugging my shoulders.

BUT it is one thing to promote a healthy lifestyle and sneer at drug abusers, it is another thing entirely to come out years later as a drug addict. It is the equivalent of Roy Cohn and homosexuality (except Moby wasn't trying to legislate). It stinks of rank hypocrisy, nauseating but not unusually.

Here is what Moby, pushing his May 17th released album of course, chose to tell Spinner.com. "I'm clean and sober now, but I've spent most of my adult life not being that. What fascinates me about addiction and obsessive behaviour is that people would choose an altered state of consciousness that's toxic and ostensibly destroys most aspects of your normal life, because for a brief moment you feel OK.

"It's a response to the human condition that, when it works, is incredibly effective. I think it's really odd when people ostracize addicts, and someone says, 'That dirty alcoholic,' or 'That dirty drug addict,' when all they're trying to do is get through the next 48 hours and not feel terrible."

"I stopped drinking and drunking because it was "inhibiting my ability to have a decent life. It's why crack addicts eventually stop smoking crack – because it makes them sick and prevents them from having a good life. It hurts them and it hurts the people around them."

And I believe him because…? I listen to the liar because…?
