MJ can’t do it his own way even when dead. According to NYT the big new song “This Is It” is actually a song he co-wrote with Paul Anka for a duets album in 1983 then MJ changed his mind and stole the tapes.
The estate of MJ had no idea -they found a tape with just keyboards and vocals by MJ, took it to Sony along with 50 other songs, and Sony chose this one. The estate built the song around MJ’s original.
I have heard a song by Latina freestyle vocalist Sa-fire called “I Never Heard” which is more or less identical ro “This Is It” only better -the middle eight is a bass driven break superior to the MJ version and the ending is fixed. It dates from 1991 abd features Brian McKnight on background ocals. It is very good.
MJ’s estate should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves. If there was anything left of MJ’s name to tarnish they just did it.
Here is the Sa-fire version and go to michaeljackson.com for the new version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCV1h40oS0o
