Not only do Mink have the best band of the year, the Boston man child Sean Kilfoyle’s no really they’re a band seem to be having a blast in bedsit land.
There are a coupla singles I haven’t heard, but the first one off their debut album By The Hedge is a pretty good quasi-ambient up with full headlights and soaking into the girlie back up singer piece of modern popism “Cemetery Rain”.
Sure, Mink are all funerals and morbidity as though they got stuck in a chair with pliers on their eyes forcing em to watch “Harold And Maude” on a loop but only for the first twenty minutes, so instead of getting all uplifted and singing out, they are feeling tragic without reason.
I worship it, of course.
Incidentally, if you are in the area, they are playing Glasslands tonight, opening for Weekend, a band who are real good and will be a lot better once they nail down their stage appearance.
