Michael Jackson’s Mom On Oprah: Alyson Camus Asks The Questions Oprah Failed To

On Monday, Oprah got the big interview, no surprise there, and Michael Jackson’s parents and his three kids, fully unveiled, sit around a table in their backyard, to discuss about life after, respectively, their son and father’s death.
We are all happy to learn that the children are adjusting very well to their new life, and that MJ was a good father and the best cook ever according to Paris, but there are many things that bother me with the Jacksons, I would have had many questions to ask but Oprah never got close to ask them:
– The veil thing: Oprah asked them about it and they said they were comfortable wearing it because it was a protection. But as soon as MJ is dead they don’t wear it anymore, their faces are everywhere, on TV, in magazines… so they didn’t need protection anymore? What was different? I would say they were even more the target of the paparazzi after his death, so what happened?
– Katherine’s faith: In 1987, MJ left the Jehovah’s witnesses, because there was strong opposition to his ‘Thriller’ video and his ‘outrageous conduct’ on the part of the Witnesses. Now Katherine, who is a devoted Jehovah’s witness, is raising the kids in her faith, and it has even been reported they have even been doing the standard field service, encouraging others to convert to the faith by knocking on doors. Does she think she has the right to do that?

– MJ being a good dad: I don’t doubt he had his moments with his children but it is well known they were mostly raised by nannies, and call me insensitive, I don’t know how you can be a wonderful dad when you are anaesthetized every night. And what about the mother? Do they know they have a mother? It is one thing to have a father, but a mother is pretty important.
– The biological father part: Obviously, they are not MJ’s biological children, it’s simply not biologically possible. Of course, the subject of their mysterious conception is never evoked, or why MJ chose to not use his own sperm. Was he that disgusted with his own DNA? I say that because you still find alienated die-hard fans who still believe Blanket looks like MJ! People are gonna say, it does not matter, he was the father who raised them, and that’s true but I am always for the truth.
– The beating: Joe Jackson is still a horrible freaky human being, answering to Oprah’s questions about the beating allegations, by first denying it: ‘I don’t think he was afraid of me, maybe he was afraid of doing something wrong, and I’d chastise him. Not beat him. I never beat him.’ Then he continues by explaining that the strapping (after Katherine’s intervention) was a way to keep them out of jail. Katherine is as guilty as her husband because she let him beat their children, and Oprah did try to drown the fish by saying something like it was part of the culture at the times. Beating your children is terrible and this is what probably fucked up MJ, but Oprah never got into this kind of dangerous water.
– The plastic surgery: Katherine told Oprah that she believes her son was addicted to plastic surgery, but MJ has repeated many times in front of the camera he had only two surgeries, nothing else! How the hell he expected us to believe this is beyond the point, but someone like Katherine may have suggested him to not take his public for morons. Instead of this she once again turns around the subject, evoking his skin disease, which is a complete different story.

– The child molestation accusations: Katherine always stayed behind her son during the trial, the same way she stayed behind her husband when he was doing something terribly wrong. MJ was still having sleepovers at Neverland after the first accusation, and she didn’t tell him it was not a good idea? May be she did, but she never said so and Oprah, who was not very supportive of MJ at that time, never asked her about this.
– The drug addiction: Katherine said she was shocked after the results of the autopsy, she said she didn’t know he was taking painkillers and prescription drugs to sleep. She also said she asked him once and he denied it. Then she goes on blaming Dr. Murray for not taking care of her child. This is where it is very contradictory, because at moments, Katherine claims she was close to her son, but she did not know he had this enormous drug addiction? How can someone on a daily dose of Demerol-Vicodin-Dilaudid-Soma-Xanax-Zoloft-Paxil (I am not making this up) pass for someone healthy?
All along the interview, Katherine always played the victim card for his son: he had to deal all his life with the child molestation accusations (but he was still inviting children in his bed), he was the victim of a doctor (but he was a grown man who was just paying a lot of doctors to get his fix), he had this skin disease (but he was using it as an excuse for his numerous plastic surgeries). I guess there will always be something to say about the Jackson family each time one of them is opening his or her mouth.
