1. Beauty And the Beast – Angela Lansbury – A very, very clever lyric. It rhymes two lines but doesn't rhyme the third line, doesn't rhyme on Beast. So guess what? You can say anything in those two lines. Yup, I make up dirty rhymes for it.

2. Get Away – Yuck – I was working on a best of 2011 earlier today, so gave the album a spin. It stands up very well, and this is a fuzzed out treat at the top of the set.

3. Goodbye Crazy City – Big Harp – Saddlecreek find is roots rock with a raspy singer.

4. Alexander's Ragtime Band – Hank Williams – This is awesome, he warbles it with an abandonement you don't hear on his own material.

5. Racehorse – Wild Flag – The album is spectacular and this is just the best. fun.

6. Lust For Life – Girls – Who realized at the time the song was a statement of intent?

7. Forty Four – Wynton Marsalis and Eric Clapton – It takes awhile to get going but once they hit their groove this sucker flies. Clapton is, as always, amazing.

8. Days Aren't Long Enough – Steve Earle – Hey, if Steve had written it for me, I'd have fallen in love with him.

9. All My Rage – Laura Marling

10. Donegal Express – Shane Macgowan – A timeless classic: "I may have fucked your missus but I never fucked your daughter…"
