1. Mean To Me – Billie Holiday – Considered, rightfully, the greatest jazz singer of all time, what lives on over and above the instrument is the fragility.
2. Poquito A Poquito – Henry Santos – I was never a big fan of Aventura, the Dominican boy band from nyc, I appreciate the talent but it is a little too boy band-y for my tastes. I mean, compare to say, Grupo Mania. Having said that, I've been listening to some of Henry Santos solo stuff in anticipation of his live show at Summerstage next week, and… this is too boy band-y for me, but the guitar is fluid and lovely and the beat quiet but relentless.
3. My Prerogative – Britney Spears – Her great interpretation of the Bobby Brown hit. How appropriate.
4. Underdog – Kasabian – Oasis redux and pretty good at that.
5. My Racing Thoughts – Jack's Mannequin – A big song for me right now.
6. Halhal – Nazan Soray – This is a great disco cum flamenco work out with top notch 70'sish disco diva vocals.
7. Bats In MY Pants – Nekromantix
8. Get It Daddy – Sleeper Agent – Ooooh, this is so much fun electro pop. Could flip pop.
9. STUPIDFACEDD – Wallpaper – Ahhh, yes, the children of Asher Roth!
10 So Appalled – Kanye West
