1. Oh What A Lovely War – The Beverly Sisters – Knocking on a century later, what did we learn from WW1? That men in their millions were expendable. That Europe could kill off a generation of their youth and 20 years later do it again. When I hear English war songs, I am moved to new heights of cynicism, and, since my Grandfather died in a nameless faceless war for no reason, I have a right. This English sister act from the 1950s jollyfy an already jolly act. The question isn't whether there are things worth dying for. The question is what they are and who is making the decision. Grade: B
2. Kill The Director – The Wombats – The English bands best song, also typifies the tightrope they walk between satire and sincerity. best line: "Don't talk to girls who break your heart".Grade: A
3. Vandana Trayee – Ravi Shankar – Produced by George Harrison. Grade: A
4. High Off Life – WZRD – I can't decide about this one, but I think Cudi has traded in a lot to play rock and roll. As judged as an experiment by a hip hop oddball, it is one thing. On its own merits, it is less. A very generic rock and roll drag that if Stained released, I would have no problem dismissing. Grade: B
5. Sometime In The Morning – The Monkees – Dolenz takes over lead on this lovely song. Grade: A
6. Boyfriend – Best Coast – So 2009 it is unreal. Grade: B
7. There's A Kind Of Hush – Herman's Hermit – How much you like this depends on how well you can stomach Peter Noone's drawn "s's".and "h's". I'm fine with em. Grade: B+
8. Talking To Myself – Chiddy Bang – Once their album hits the charts, you'll never get it off. Grade: A-
9. I Predict A Riot – Kaiser Chiefs – Is there something on the new album half as good and I missed it? Grade: B
