1. Balcony – Craig Finn – My fave song of the year right this second, is the story of our fearless leader taking a girl to a party, going out to buy cigs from the deli, and seeing her on the balcony with another guy. Only it is better than it sounds.
2. VIP – Sinead O'Connor – One of the best songs of the year has Sinead throwing it down hard to pop stars having their pictures taken with the Pope. And is as good as it sounds
3. One Life Away – M. Ward – Here, Ward isn't boring. he is dead, with his main squeeze visiting his grave,
4. California Dreaming – katy Perry – I was looking for rat-a-tat-tat but will settle for this.
5. It's Not Right But It's Okay – Whitney Houston – Off her best album.
6. The Arrow Killed the Beast – Heartless bastards – This is why I'm so ambivalent about the band.
7. Muthafucker Up – Tyga – Yeah, I thought Minaj was a better featured star than this. Or maybe we are just used to her one trick.
