The night I didn't go to the Hall Of Fame MSG gig in 2009, Metallica and Lou Reed came together and jammed and they said it was good.
There were parts of the 1970s and 1990s I was a huge Reed fan, and other times, in the 1980s, I was a huge Metallica fan. But in 2011? I am a whole helluva lot less sure.
Anyway, they have been recording together ever since, finished the album last week ("In what could be considered lighning speed for Metallica"). and now we are awaiting its release.
Lou Reed can play guitar, listen to New York if you want further proof of that truism, but how he will make out with the T-Rex of metal, I have no idea.
