MGMT has released their first track from their upcoming sophomore album Congratulations. It has an expected release date of April 13, 2010. The new song entitled “Flash Delirium” became available as a free download from their website on March 9th.
However MGMT has explicitly stated that this song is just a teaser and they will not be releasing any singles per se as is typically with a new album release.
Their intention is for the entire album to be heard in order as a whole. That being said, the new single at first listen has that distinct MGMT stamp on it. I will need many more listens to properly dissect it and while I loved their first album, it is always nice to see an artists evolution of sound.
Today a friend alerted me to another new single from the upcoming album, this one titled “Congratulations.” I don’t know if this is a legitimate release as I heard it on the website The Hype Machine, and it could be a recording from a live performance. However, this helps increase the excitement for the actual release of their album
