We decided to hit Boston to see rocknyc’s kids Mayday Parade. If you search this site youll see we interviewd them awhile back. A great group of gloss. I cannot believe they havent ‘broken’ yet. Theyre stars.
Well as much as a star as you can be outside a Barnes and Noble in Peabody MA.
There is nothing more equalizing than no longer being star struck. As we walked to grab lunch with Brooks Betts, lead guitar for Mayday, to our side, it didnt matter. We didnt squeel to him nor did anyone else. He was able to hit the food court anonymous just chatting away on the phone. Im hopeful those days are numbered. They have everything it takes

We went with a hardcore Mayday fan who has not seen them before. Its best to go to these shows with real loyals. It gives you a new persepective.
But as I grabbedf them to stake out a spot in the crowd I rmembered what makes me gag about this band

So as I weezled my way out of that same crowd so I wouldnt go to jail for elbowing that girl to the ground. I realized a few things.
1 Mayday needs more promotion.
2- The “kids in love’ video was a huge mistake. Theyre never going to shake their teeny bopper girly fan base. Til Derek gets ugly and thats not going to happen. Theyre lovelorn cute boys this is what you get. Most of your fans need their parents to release the youtube parental control to see it.
So their set?
Great! I love that girls threw bras at them. Bras of a size that would serve more as yalmakas to Woody Allen cuz it sure as hell wouldnt fit these girls.
I love the clarity the breeze the vibrancey of the band itself. True talent great showmanship
I could do without the screemy little prep girls with the designer knockoff sunglasses.
Would see them again? No- 4x is plenty, but I wish them all the best- they absolutely derve it. I hope they find proper promotion. Theyre a band we can say “we knew them way back when….”
