Magpie and Hel do SNL: One Direction

So we have people sleeping on the pavement to see these kids.   Simon Cowell's kids have took over the hearts of the tweens and some teens.  Their cute looks and poppy beat make them safe poster boys for our youth.  Boy bands are tough business.  How can anything compare to the 80's with or N'Sync and Boys To Men, let alone the infamous New Kids On The Block.

Here we are though, watching these guys who's fans are up past curfew to catch a couple tunes and scream.  What I wonder is can the over 16 crowd relate?  Can we get older fans to appreciate the bubblegum boys?  Is there any talent or even showmanship for these British-Irish blokes?

Well I'm not so sure but tonight we see how it pans out over the bad comedy sketches of an SNL gasping its last breathes.  With the most horrible hostess,Sofia Vergara (where the hell is Penelope Cruz at least shes cute) who read the teleprompter so poorly I could die.  Hell even Charo was better than that.

Well luckily Iman is out of town and spared this horror of this "comedy"  I had to wrangle the Magpie for a teen objective on One Direction, after all, she is there target audience right?

What was most surprising (since I have never seen them before) is that they don't play instruments.  They ARE a boyband, put on Earth to dance and sing and entice the girlies! How retro!

The tune "What Makes You Beautiful" was opened to screams but at leas they really sang.  They look so nervous, that I actually feel nervous.  Yeah, I'm not feeling it.  AND WHO THE HELL dressed them??! The one with the bowtie has some pipes though, the others.. meh and they need a choreographer, pronto.

Quote the Magpie:
"The boys were all matching, and I'm not really sure how to feel about their performance.  They were smiling at each other and having fun, which made them interesting to watch.  For a boy band, they're not horrific but nothing special.  I can definitely see them being the next NSYNC,  without a doubt.  They didn't lipsync, which was surprising.  They also looked really nervous which was cute.  Overall it didn't blow me away, but it was still worth watching."
