appy St. Patty’s! A day dedicated to celebrating two of my favorite pastimes: drinking Guinness and listening to Irish drinking songs! I have fond, yet blurry memories from college of sitting around the bar in my basement with my some of my best drinking buddies, slugging back pint after pint of frothy black beer while screaming note after note to the likes of the Dropkick Murphy’s, Flogging Molly, and the Clancy Brothers. Here are five of my favorite Irish drinking songs that are sure to have you jigging and drinking the night away.
1. “Drunken Lullabies” – Flogging Molly – Sure fire way to get the drinkin’ gland swelling and the festivities commencing.
2. “The Night Pat Murphy Died” – Great Big Sea – Here’s to gettin’ loaded drunk, lads!
3. “Seven Drunken Nights” – The Dubliners – Irish folk song about the meaning of a true drunk and the spirit of the Irish way. Slam your glasses on the bar and let your inner Irishman come out as you as you sing tales from the Emerald Isle.
4. “Kiss Me, I’m Shitfaced” – Dropkick Murphy’s – It’s St. Patty’s Day! Who doesn’t want to get lucky?
5. “If I Ever Leave this World Alive” – Flogging Molly – Best be good and saucy for this one! Raise your glasses high and cheers those who mean the world to ya!
