Listen Up: 9-14-12

1. No Worries – Lil Wayne – After dismissing this out of hand yesterday, its complete eccentric sound caught my ear. Weezy can absolutely rhyme, and if he can't quite sing, still, he is so unhinged here, it is more than a my Mach is bigger than usual,  You gotta wonder who he is gonna sell it to – Grade: B+

2. Antmusic – Adam And The Ants – The Burundi beats backed over Spandau Ballet, as Ant nixed soul sound for pop flavor – Grade: A

3. I'm A Hook – Paytem Jane – If ever an artist should hike up her stockings and get on X Factor, she is this. A disco diva with soul and legs – Grade: B

4. Nuclear Family – Green Day – An inspired rewrite of "Safe European Home" and good for them. As Julie Burchill once wrote, I'd rather hear a good song twice than "Oh Love" once –  Grade: B+

5. Let Yourself Go – Green Day – Billie's best vocal in awhile, his scream is great – Grade: B

6. I Am An  Ape – Byrne And St. Vincent – Disappointment after disappointment – Grade: C-

7. The Killing Type – Amanda Palmer – Sounds like the Cars (it took me a month and somebody elses review to figure that) – Grade: B+

8. Everything Means Something – Pet Shop Boys – One of my very favorite bands of all times, heavy on the beats and foreboding – Grade: B

9. Roll On John – Bob Dylan – Where's the verse where he shares a taxi with him? – Grade: B

10. Lenny Bruce – Bob Dylan – Oooooh, it is here – Grade: B
