Listen Up: 7-24-12

1. Hinnon, TX (Apple Consumer Remix) – Bon Iver – After actively disliking Justin for years a funny thing happened on my way to the "C-", a couple of songs began to infiltrate my consciousness and next thing I know… well this remiz has bowled me over with its atmospheric elongation – Grade: B

2. Get Ready – Mayer hawthorne – Stunningly useless remake, sounds like rare Earth – Grade: C
3. Every Inch Of You – The Darkness –  A glammy goth in joke which takes hair metal and adds even more cock jokes – Grade: B-
4. Is This The Best Spot – Ariel Pink's Haunted House – Experimental dithering – Grade: B-
5. Good Time – Owl City (with Carly Rae Bepsen) – The "Bad Day" singer with the "Maybe" girl, catchy the first time, annoying after that – Grade: C
6. Last Of A Dying breed – Lyrnd Skyrnd – There is a reason why this is a) the title track off the latest album and b) the first song off the latest. The reason is it punces on you and won't let you go – Grade: B
7.So He Begins To Lie – Bloc Party – Guitar and synth, vocals are kinda sucky – Grade: C-
8. Fingers Never Bleed – Yeasayer – the chances of me making it to Summerstage are getting smaller and smaller – Grade: C
9. Mutt Romney Blues – Ry Cooder – OOOh, Mutt instead of Mitt. I get it – Grade: D+
10. Hail Mary – Trey Songz – Not bad I guess, kinda playful for what it is, Trey Songz plus rap stars – Grade: B
