Two Little Hitlers – Elvis Costello And The Attractions – This is prime Elvis, a heart damaged manifesto of emotional fascism building to a denunciation that questions both his and the woman's shared humanity. And no, I don't mean "I wouldn't cry for lost souls you might drown" but "I thought i'd let you down but you were just deflated" -the sort of pun not only he but me and no one else can write today – Grade: A+
2. Hurt So Good – Carly Rae Jepsen – Highlight of the Believe gig wasn't Bieber but this deep album cut off Carly's sophomore effort – Grade: B+
3. Lighning – The Wanted – Not so hot on record, but live they really roll the lighning metaphor as sound effect – Grade: B-
4. Want You Back – Cher Lloyd – Over the speakers at MSG on Wednesday, it brought the house down. So why hasn't it charted? – Grade: A
5. Killing In The Name – Rage Against The Machine – The thing is, guess what? It sounds just about mainstream today! – Grade: A
6. Get Off Of My Cloud – The Rolling Stones – That Watts drum roll that opens it becomes a highlighted triplicate right behind Jagger's vocal all the way through. Plus the "off of" is as much an age signifier as – Grade: A+
7. Now You Has Jazz – Bing Crosby And Louis Armstrong – From the movie "High Society" and the verse Bing and Satch share is heaven on earth -"arrivadootchie"!!
8. Aja – Steely Dan – Keep your ear out for Wayne Shorters solo four and a half minutes in – Grade: A
9. Die Young – Ke$ha – I streamed the album, it gets better – Grade: C+
10. June On The West Coast – Bright Eyes – A timeless masterpiece of renewal – Grade: A
