Listen Hear: What rock nyc Is Listening To 2-21-13

1. Box Chevy – Rick Ross – I gotta hand it Ross, he finds so many creative ways to say nothing of the slightest importance and for the most part I remain cold as ice but this songs chorus hit my pleasure point: the new Lexus comment did it – Grade: B+

2. Trojans – Atlas Genius – Aussie duo broke big with this song and are now signed to WB. I dunno,I guess they have a twangy pop appeal that may follow fun. up the charts – Grade: B-

3. Upstarts – Johnny Marr – Yet again, a great intro but then it cools off a little. Still, much better out of context of the album – Grade: B+

4. You – Matmos – Wildly experimental band perform quasi-classical composition. Personally, I prefer "Very Large Green Triangles" – Grade: B

5. With Arms Outstretched – Rilo Kiley – The indie singalong masterpiece of all all time – Grade: A+

6. Mirrors – Justin Timberlake – It isn't bad, "Suit & Tie" wasn't bad, but is this it? – Grade: B

7. The Common Touch – Parenthetical Girls – Is that a violin slicing its way into this very strange but not unplesant track? Not sure about the lyric, "I came out of my mother…"? Ugh – Grade: B

8. Hey Porsche – Nelly – This is pretty catchy pop rock and no rap??? What gives? – Grade: B

9. Clash The Truth – Beach Fossil – Sure, it is exactly what you expect. Strummy stuff, etc. But it is a little better than usual – Grade: B

10. Big Love – Jamie Lidell – Pretty good electronic soul guy via Brit DJ – Grade: B
