Limited Edition Book Record Art Illuminates The Lost (Or Losing) Art Form

Of all the losses we got after vinyl died, sound quality for one, the loss of the album cover and package was huge. And art form in its own right, even if bands wanted to maintain it they couldn't. Who does anything but glance at a 125 by 125 cover. And that if it's a CD -if it is a mp3 on your telephone, you don't even do that.

I miss album covers even if I vastly prefer the way music is distributed in 2012 to the way it was in 1975. People who are nostalgic for vinyl probably never bought much.

Above and below this you will find the pictures of album sleeves as well as comments from the photograph taken froma limited edition book called "Record Art". An oddly anonymous coffee table book which includes an excellent introduction by one Jimmy Page as well comments by the likes of Pete Townsend and many others.

It is still available and here is the link and I recommend it, even though it is a touch depressing to see all we have lost!
