Let The MIA Backlash Begin

Pitchfork said this about the new MIA album: “…It’s as if everything that was great about M.I.A. has been stripped from this music, leaving behind only the most alienating aspects of her art and public persona”.

Our own Alyson Camus had her own assesment here a week before Pitchfork’s and thought it was an abomination.

Me? I have heard four tracks and hated two and loved two… the pleasures of being a song instead of album fan!!! But also, my experience is the more people deny something, the more likely it is to be true. I agree with Alyson pretty well but not when it comes to techno and while I don’t knee jerk on Pitchfork the way I do on say the New York Post, I think they are a bit… well crap writers, but also weirdly biased. Smacks of backlash. The truth is, based on four ongs, it isn’t as good as the first two but it isn’t a piece of tweaky crappola.
