Henry Rollins was the first one to show up, answering questions, and basically saying that Lemmy was the real deal, that the world was all right, because we knew, like it was the case for the Ramones, that there was Lemmy. He also talked about his globe trotter addiction, as he was just coming back from Sudan.
Then Slim Jim Phantom (Stray Cats), Steve Vai, Robert Trujillo (Metallica), Duff McKagan (Gun N’ Roses), and a few others came up… Even Ron Jeremy the porn actor was there??
Lemmy arrived in a black limo and hang out quite some time, friendly with everyone. He seemed to be the down-to-earth person portrayed in the movie, dressed up like a cross between a tough old-school cowboy and an army general of the civil war.
It was a private screening by invitation only, I was told at my arrival, but I was able to get in thanks to the generosity of one of the two filmmakers, Greg Olliver, who let a few uninvited guests see his movie for free! And it was a great motherfucker documentary,… more about it tomorrow!
