After a) attending the Madison Square Garden funeral for LCD Soundsystem, after James Murphy chose to fold what amounts to a one man band and b) missing the screening of the movie of the show at the Museum Of The Moving Picture in Astoria having been harshly felled by a cold earlier in the summer, I thought it would be months till I'd get the chance to see the bizarrely distributed "Shut Up And Play The Hits".
It is like James Murphy wanted to make it as difficult as possible to see the damn thing. It didn't even get a week week run in nyc.
Well, all those ads saying get "Shut Up And Play The Hits" on wasn't referring to the suspected soundtrack album (which doesn't exist) but to the movie itself. And I have now official seen the first five minutes and say without the slightest hesitation that Murphy looks awful without a shave. There is having a weak jawbone and then there is looking like a bowl of jello…
Also, his doggie is cute!
Oh and, when he told Steve Colbert he was retiring to make coffee HE WASN'T JOKING!!
Still, no music but I'm sure it will show up.
So go buy it.
