If That Ain’t The Blues Nothing Is – Swamp Dogg – In which the Dogg holds back on the hi jinx to perform a horn blasted down on the Delta proto-classic, with the usual quota of smart lyric and smart ass, at the age of 72 years Little Jimmy just keeps on going and here his raspy vocal is a splendid thing- A
Acid Wash – Panda Bear – You know I may have underestimated his new one and I estimate it very highly. This last call track is another beauty, a beautiful and strange almost mystic sound and completely wonderful – A-
Come Over And Watch Netflix – Palisades – Best song title in a while, worthy of the Wombats, the song is more like Amazon Prime – C+
Credit – Meghan Trainor – I don’t get these halfhearted reviews at all, yet another first rate song, doo wop lovely song break up smart Patti Pager. What’s not to worship? – A
Crack In The Pearl II – Mark Ronson, Stevie Wonder – the entire album is parenthetic to Wonder’s terrific harp playing – A
Fight Magic With Magic – Liam Hayes – Left a good power popper for the end though the slurping coda is horrible – C
The Dream Is Dead – The Last 10 Seconds – Sludgy bore – C
Just Another Dude – Kat Dahlia – Disappointing drag of a conclusion – C
If you Dare – Jazmine Sullivan – Really good hand clapping multi tracking disco beating goodie – B
Looking For A Place To Land – Justin Townes Earle – The best singer songwriter in the business – A
Stereo – the Expendables – A little more MOR than we’re used to, but pretty classic rock with a reggae inflection – B
Missed – Ella Henderson – A little too self-important for a pop ballad – C+
Summer Wall, Pt 2 – California X- Wow, this is maybe the best song on the album, a terrific wall of guitars and drums and all melody all the time. Epic – A
