Among the controversies raging at the moment is whether Larry Crane even should have remastered two Elliot Smith albums: Smith’s first Roman Candle from 1994 and the post-humous 2004 From A Basement To A Hill .
I have only heard Roman Candle and I am not a sound wonk, I don’t have Mike Nessings ears, but even I can tell it has only been improved on here, the scretchy pitchiness of the guitar is gone but you can still hear the nuance of his playing, the sound of his fingers moving across the string.
