Uh Oh
Having spend a long and happy life sneering at everything Kings of Leon have ever done, I find that I prefer Come Around Sundown to The Grand Theatre, Vol. 1.
Todd gave me a copy of the album and I really didn’t pay it much mind. But on SNL? I kinda liked “Pony Up” and, mistaking it for “Retro” I started to listen to “Retro” and discovered, to my horror, that I kinda liked that in a laid back whatever sorta way.
On my way to work yesterday, “Back Down South”, very twangy, and laid back, kinda kicked in.
All three of these songs are somewhat minor -“Back Down South” is all about a twangy slide guitar lick and seems to have its eyes shaded from the sun.
I know you prolly think, since the KOL backlash is in full swing, I am just being a contrarian. But I’m really not.
Save the bucks on the album, but buy the three songs
