Kinetix at Wakarusa.. and then some

I first caught Denver's Kinetix, pictured at the famed Rock Rocks in Morrison,CO.  BK bowl back in May, and was ecstatic to hear they were venturing out to Wakarusa as well. I was a bit less ecstatic when I found out they were sharing a set time with Eoto. Ehhh. Luckily with the set up of the stages, this deemed not to be much of a problem. As I easily caught the first of Eoto, and closer from Kinetix. They rocked their rock funk fusion to the enjoyment of the crowd. I was glad I caught their hit "Fighting for"  a good rock heavy track, a bit on the poppy side, but something almost anyone can enjoy.

Kinetix are a very dynamic band  that has been touring heavily this past year. Their reminds me of the early Chili Peppers, but with their own Colorado swag to it. Most certainly an entertaining show to say the least. Songs "Let me in," and "Big Screen" really show the diversity in their music, going from very uptempo rock to more down tempo pop rock.

I met guitarist, Jordan and drummer Pete walking the crowd at Wakarusa, passing out CDs, promoting their show that night. Definetly my kind of band, some real DIY dudes; which is really the only mentality to have to make it in today's music game. I grabbed about 15 cds from Jordan, and helped spread the Kinetix music and tale to Wakarusa.

You can see them next in their hometown of Denver, Co @ Westword Music showcase, this Saturday night along with Chromeo and Yo La Tengo, followed by a show in Salt Lake City on 6/23.

I wouldn't be surprised if you see these guys headlining one of the summers major music festivals in the next few years, and I certainly would expect a better set time next year at Wakarusa.
