Sunday’s Simpson’s Christmas Special? Er, not so much. Decades ago, the Christmas special was used to introduce Santa’s Little Helper. And more recently, in a superb Christmas special , the late and lamented Gary Coleman voiced a security guard.
But last nights four stories were not up to very much at all. First, Bart takes the Polar Express. Meh. Next, a real bad Lisa story about a Christmas tree in the second world war. Meh. Next, Martha Stewart -I can’t write her name without falling asleep.
Then, finally, the reason for the entire disaster, the Simpson’s as Muppets puppets with the strings showing and a laugh track. Homer has lied to get out of work so the family can take a trip to Hawaii and Mo Sizlak is house sitting. He invites his girl over to his “new bachelor pad” . Meanwhile, Mr. Burns shows to check up on his errant employee as the Simpson family attempt to make their getaway.
Katy Perry plays Mo’s squeeze and she is all lipstick and skin tight skirt and REAL!!!
It is a sweet enough ending to a fairly naff episode, concluding with an unbearably stupid by the Simpsons exceedingly high standards “31 Days Of Christmas”.
Ps: did I mention I have a date with Katy on Friday, but don’t tell Cyn she’s the jealous type.
