KahBang Festival, of Bangor Maine, is unlike many of its fellow summer counterparts. Along with two days of music featuring such superstars as Lupe Fiacso, MMJ, Grace Potter, Atmosphere, Chromeo, and The Infinities, KahBang opens the festival with a week long Art and Film exhibition, making it one of largest independent music, art, and film events in New England.
Founded by friend, Chas Bruns and Co. in 2009, each year KahBang grows in its quality of artists, as well as attendance, and other activities. This year features, the KahBoat, which is a cruise that sets sail on Saturday, and features intimate music performance by Asheville, NC band Stephaniesid, who have set to explore both the melancholy and triumph of human life and love, the players equally faithful stewards of large, intoxicating swells and infectious, danceable melodies. Recordings affix weepy synthesizers, vibraphone lines, guitars, thick bass notes, quirky keyboard sounds, a horn section, and coquettish, curly, tenacious female vocals. They can be check out at facebook.com/stephaniesid.
With the stages strategically placed directly by the waterfront, the atmosphere where the musicians will be performing, will be very ideal for the audience.
Its sad that the festival season is coming to an end, with only KahBang and Summer Dance left on my summers schedule. But thanks to our #tweedtour road trip up to Maine, it will surely go out with a BANG, a big KAHBANG!
