Summer’s here and it is getting time to get excited for Justin and Jigga at Yankee Stadium this July. I am going twice! Both days. Though I am hoping Justin goes on first so I can the rapper at least one. By the way, the rapper officially lost his crown to the King Of Hip Hop to Prince regent Kanye West over the weekend. Any music fan who didn’t flip out over the Kweezy bravado one man show doesn’t know a damn thing about music.
But I digress.
Timberlake’s last album has hovered around the top 75% in my opinion meter, it is very good but is it great? Sometimes I think it is but mostly I think it isn’t, but either way an 8 minute hit single puts in in “MacArthur Park” land and an album still on the charts months later promises nothing if not staying power.
Which leads me to Kanye west. I don’t mean to do difficult but how much more fun would a Kweezy and Justin tour have been. Who isn’t sick of bloody Jay-Z. he has written one great song in the past five years. And he swanks around like he invented the word swagger while putting on tonnage and growing rounded and rounder till we’re afraid he is gonna blow up any minute.
As for JT, well the last time I saw him live he was awesome (I wonder if they will get him for Jingle Ball this year?) , but that was so long ago, it’s hard to rememebr it ever happened.
I wonder if he JT will be playing songs off The 20/20 Experience Part two, out in late September? I also wonder if he has enough new material to sustain a part two? While I am wondering, above you will find the sleeve off his latest single culled from Part One, “Tunnel Vision”. A super cool trompe d’oeil for all the family! Er, no wait, for the over 16 unless accompanied by an adult. The song is an r&B disco workout, not bad, nothing great, a solid “B”.
