If I could rejoin my life from a year ago, from pre rock nyc, I would spend all day listening to the new Titus and No Paws (No Lions). But I can’t and I have a responsibility to the readers who spend their time reading rock nyc, they deserve to have well informed guys writing for them. More than even a rock critic, a music blogger is listening to everything he can get his hands on.
I get sent music constantly and I listen to it all (I really do, honestly, half my life is spent listening to stuff no one has ever heard of or will) but if it is by artists under a certain size I don’t write about it if I don’t like it. Much like my theory in life, I try to cause the minimum amount of damage during my travels. I will dis, say, Jay-Z till I’m blue in the face (it doesn’t effect him and I’m telling the truth) but I would never insult the second band some night at Pianos. It’s not what we do here.
To No Paws (NO Lions).. I got to the Bowery Ballroom early two weeks ago to interview Titus Andronicus. Caught the opening act Clouds Nothing. Loved em and picked up he CD and wrote a review. Their record label contacted me to thank me and sent me the No Paws (No Lions) (a Shakespeare quote: there’s a lot of it going around!!!) . So…
If i wasn’t a blogger I would spend all day listening to Kevin Greenspon. Titus. No Paws (No Lions) instead of listening to everything in the world. But if I wasn’t a blogger idda never heard of Kevin, Paws, etc.
So my advise? Start your own blog or write for mine!!!
