Sure, "Annie's Song" is unbearable, and sure stories of a rocky mountain high are now mixed with coke highs, promiscuity and wife beating, but still, John Denver did do "Leaving On A Jet Plane", "Sunshine On My Shoulders" "Take me Home, Country Roads" and many others. Plus he was great as George Burns sidekick in "Oh God"
So apparently Denver's songs are due to be part of a Broadway musical called a "A Moment In Time" According to contactmusic.com it "foollows the story of a mortally wounded marine in Afghanistan who recalls a happier time with his family in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia..The project was developed by five-time Tony Award winner Stewart F. Lane, who was recently honoured with the 2011 John Denver Spirit Award."
Sounds pretty ghastly to me…
