Super Photographer to the  rock stars Joe Stevens  has crafted himself a second career as a teller of stories. Joe could always spin a yarn, it’s the Irish in him,  and now he has figured out how to change those stories into gold. Joe told me: “I shleppe a digital projector in my car and do shows with the vast picture collection on USB Flash Drives, narrating, with recorded music,- at the drop of le’hat in book stores, cocktail lounges, and recently a Manic Panic(punk)franchise shoppe in ye olde Boston. I lurve it! “

Joe also plans to take the show on the road and play New York city. Always great with a story, this will be as close as you will ever get to being with McCartney on the early Wings college tour, or Johnny Rotten the day after he quit the Sex Pistols and went to stay with Stevens in nyc, or…

Or how about this? On July 15th, Stevens will be introducing a screening of  Cameron Crowe’s  second best movie “Almost Famous”. You know, the one that gave the world Kate Hudson as a groupie and Phillip Seymour Hoffman as Lester Bangs,  at  Portsmouth, New Hampshire at Prescott Park. The connection? A pretty cool one: “Cameron and Mr.Bangs crashed at my gaff in London long before this flick. That will be my story.”

And I am pretty sure not Stevens only story that evening, either.

Somebody should throw boatloads of bucks at Stevens and send him on tour with these stories. And tape em for posterity. I’ve mentioned how well I got on with Johnny when I interviewed him. What I haven’t mentioned is that I dropped Stevens name early during the interview and Rotten instantaneously opened up.
