Jeff The Brotherhood On daytrotter

Brothers Jamin and Jake Orvall play drums and guitar as Jeff The Brotherhood -a swamp rat storn of punk rock blues via Nashville.
They’ve played together since childhood and did an apprenticeship with Be Your Own Pet while still recording together. Heavy Days, their sixth album, broke em past the last hurdle into big time small time rock star mode.
It includes the shoulda been a contender (and if some enterprising fellow sticks it on a commercial for cell phones still might be) “Bone Jam”.
But their session with the daytrotter crew last week has to be heard to be believed. It is as loud and raucuous as anything I’ve heard them do live and, more than Heavy Days, a song like “U Got The Look” (no, not that one) , exemplifies the spirit of seventies New York punk.
The other three songs can get wilder and into the realms of feed back but it never loses you completely, “Mind Ride” can’t decide whether to crash or burn in the blues fire, so it does both.
The daytrotter crew are the best producers around, they’re like Rick Rubins for a new generation. however, they’re writing, as somebody commented earlier today, is terrible. They just plain suck.
And like I care because this is the best Jeff The Brotherhood  recording I’ve heard.
