The French fashion designer Jean-Paul Gaultier has designed many outfits for rock stars. like Marilyn Manson or Kylie Minogue, but he is especially known for the skirts for men and the sculptured costumes he created for Madonna, like the menacing cone-bra for her 1990 Blond Ambition Tour.
In a recent interview for the telegraph, he was asked about Madonna:
‘I was a fan of Madonna’s so I was pleased to collaborate with her for that reason – not because it would be good for my career.’
And what about Lady Gaga?
‘I think she’s talented and very unpolitically incorrect, which I love. But I also think that she read up on Madonna’s life and learnt it like the Bible.’
Isn’t it Margaret Cho who said that ‘Lady Gaga is kind of like Madonna’s muppet baby’?
