James Taylor And Carole King Tour Grosses Whopping $58M

I reviewed the concert on rock nyc when they appeared here and was more impressed then, say, no nothing New Post’s Dan Aquilante. At The time I wrote: “From Taylor blues blowout on “Steamroller Blues” (“From the sublime to the ridiculous” he cracks. The man is hysterical) to King shaking her body in the middle of the stage, this was not just a nostalgia trip. But it was a nostalgia trip nevertheless I loved it but I’ve loved em both more.”

So, a little faint praise there but in retrospect it was a fine set.

Still.

I was surprised to hear they grossed $58 Million. For the size of the tour this puts em in Rolling Stones land, it means sell out after sell out at top prices.

I get that between them they have an unreal catalogue. But so does Glenn Fry and Don Henley.  James Taylor told Billboard: “”Essentially, a tour runs on hits and people’s emotional connection with the material,” Taylor says. “That’s the lifeblood of this thing, how people are emotionally connected to the material that Carole and I are doing, what it means personally in their lives.”

I guess.

Still can’t get over Carole not playing “Chains”.
